When veterans return home from combat, they often struggle with getting re-acclimated to civilian life. The Wisconsin American Legion recognized this and developed a program that enables returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans to reconnect with their families at Camp American Legion. The Wisconsin American Legion then came to Designcor with a very important mission: to help promote and raise funds for this critical program.
The plan was to create a point-of-sale fundraising campaign that would be launched in convenience stores throughout Wisconsin. In order to effectively promote this worthy endeavor, the program needed to have a name and an identity — Operation Homecoming was born. Along with developing a logo that would be compatible across marketing mediums, we designed numerous POS elements including posters, table displays, signs and donation containers. In lieu of a complicated wordy explanation, we designed a solution that uses a straightforward message, utilizing photographs to tell the touching stories of these brave men and women who are defending our freedom.
The introductory Operation Homecoming campaign was a huge success, raising substantial funds for the program — not to mention, giving our returning veterans a heartfelt “Welcome Home.”
